The attorney who represents Trayvon Martin’s family said that he expects for charges to be filed against 28-year-old George Zimmerman. Zimmerman was the neighborhood watch member who shot and killed Trayvon as the teenager was walking home from a trip to the store to purchase skittles and iced tea.
Attorney Daryl Parks said that he and the family have met with officials from the U.S. Justice Department.
“I think the focus is not a federal arrest over a state arrest,” Parks said told the journalists. “We want an arrest, period. And I think that the state aspect of that is the one that’s most feasible, that’s most attainable in this matter.”
Asked his sense that state officials will press charges, he said, “Oh, they will.”
“Most state laws tend to be better for the prosecution of state crimes,” Parks told the journalists. “And that’s why we see the federal authorities expressing, although gently, they can only do so much if there’s some type of race issues involved. The state officials don’t have that problem.”
Zimmerman’s lawyer and his lawyer are standing by a claim of self defense. Saying that he suffered a bloody nose and a cut on the back of his head after the altercation with Trayvon. SOURCE
I can’t say that I expect a man who made $45 Million in two years to be extremely concerned with the status of America’s poop people. But I can say that I wouldn’t expect someone who is running for the office of President to express that he is not concerned about the poor folks in the country. He feels that there is a “safety net” in place to help those people out who are less fortunate.
“I’m in this race because I care about Americans. I’m not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I’ll fix it,” the Republican front-runner said Wednesday on CNN, following hisvictory in the Florida primary. “I’m not concerned about the very rich, they’re doing just fine. I’m concerned about the very heart of the America, the 90 percent, 95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling.”
This is a prime example of how delusional and clueless some of these politicians really are…
Prince Alwaleed bin Talal of Saudia Arabia announced today that they are investing a total of $300 Million into the social networking site Twitter. The company plans to use the cash to get more users and advertisers.
Alwaleed is the 26th richest person in the world according to Forbes magazine and has invested in other technology companies in the past.
Currently twitter has about 100 million users that post about 250 million tweets per day.
Researchers estimate that Twitter will generate about $140 million in ad revenue this year and $260 million in 2012.
Bank of America has decided that it will not charge debit card customers a monthly fee to use their cards. The $5 charge was greeted with uproar after the bank’s customers petitioned and threatened to close their accounts if the fee was implemented.
Bank of America’s Chief Operating Officer David Darnell said that ”Our customers’ voices are most important to us. As a result, we are not currently charging the fee and will not be moving forward with any additional plans to do so.”
Bank of America is based in Charlotte and is also testing other options for their checking accounts. These accounts come with monthly fees ranging from $6 to $25 and are currently being tested in Arizona, Georgia and Massachusetts.
Members of a church based in Kansas that is infamous for protesting funerals and other tragic events have decided that they are going to try to protest at the funeral of Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs.
Members of the Westboro Baptist Church have stated publicly that they opposed Jobs’ and plan on standing outside of his funeral with picket signs…if they can find it. The details of Jobs funeral have not been released yet.
The church is pastored by Rev. Fred Phelps and based out of Topeka, Kansas. The congregation which consists mostly of Phelps’ family members has protested the funerals of fallen U.S. military service men and women because they believe that the deaths are punishment for America’s tolerance of homosexuality.
Rev. Phelps’ daughter Margie tweeted FROM HER IPHONE that she and her fellow church members plan on protesting Jobs’ funeral.
Leave a comment and let me know…
WHAT DO YOU SAY…SHOULD THIS CHURCH BE BOYCOTTING AT STEVE JOBS’ FUNERAL?
If this aint the perfect example of American greed I don’t know what is.
In 2012 Bank of America, which is one of the largest banks in the country will begin charging a monthly $5 fee for customers who use their debit card.
The charges will be applied to customers who use their card to make a purchase at any given time during the month. It will not be applied to those who only use their cards strictly for use at an ATM.
These new fees are a result of recent regulations passed through the Dodd-Frank Act that changed the way that the banks can charge money for overdrafts and other fees. Another one of the rules that is being put in place by the regulations is that there will be a cap on what banks can charge for debit swipe fees.
So basically what it boils down to is that the rich folks keep getting rich while the poor folks scramble to stay afloat while getting poorer.
Some government official needs to step in and advise these big business that they can’t keep treating their customers like this.
Well maybe not, but I can’t think of any other logical reason for him to say this.
“I have to tell you this: I am a huge fan of Sarah Palin…Cause she’s rad. She’s shrewd. She’s cool. Because at the end of the day, I’m for the people, because this is the United States of America… this is what America’s really about. Anyone should have the right to say, ‘Look I can do the job and this is what qualifies me to do the job.’…. Now my wife probably will debate and disagree with me.”
In a book that is being released next Tuesday, author Joe McGinniss makes the claim that the former Governor of Alaska had a one night stand with former NBA player Glen Rice.
According to the book the two hooked up back in 1987 when Rice was in college and Palin was a sports reporter for Anchorage, Alaska TV station KTUU. Allegedly, the tryst occurred while Rice was in Alaska for a basketball camp. According to McGinnis, Palin had a “fetish” for black men and hooked up with Rice a few months before she eloped and married her boyfriend Todd.
Rice was reportedly contacted by the author of the book, and confirmed that he did knock the Alaskan boots of the woman who would eventually be thrown into the nation’s political spotlight.
