I had no idea that Jaleel White had a baby…and had even less of an idea that he was accused of domestic abuse back in 2010. Jaleel is 35-years-old and his ex girlfriend Bridget Hardy had some not so pleasant things to say about the actor formerly known as Steve Urkel.

Bridgett spoke to Star magazine and here is what she had to say about the couple’s relationship.

“At the time it was a hard time… We were having a baby and starting a family and there’s lots of stress on a couple. We tried to work it out, but he wasn’t ready for a committed relationship… Even when we had friends over he wanted me to hide all the baby stuff because he didn’t want anyone to know we had a child together… Someone even invited us to go to Michael Jackson‘s funeral and he didn’t take me because I was seven months pregnant. He still wanted to maintain that playboy image… He texted me and offered me $200,000 to leave our daughter with him and have me go and start my own family.”

On the verbal and physical abuse that she experienced:

“He pushed me into the toilet, and it broke. Water went everywhere, through the walls and even to the kitchen downstairs… Verbally and emotionally, he’s abusive. He told me I’m not working; I have no money; I’m white trash. None of it was true.”

On if things are now better between the two, as they raise their two year old daughter:

“He loves her [Samaya] to death and is a good financial provider…We talk on email about the baby. The less communication we have makes it easier. We still love each other, but we had a toxic chemistry.

The allegations were made 2 years ago when the couple was going through a bitter custody battle.  So you never know what the truth is.

SHOWTIME SAYS…

NBA star Dwyane Wade plans on telling his story of fatherhood via a new book. Wade has joined William Morrow of HarperCollins Publishers to release his first book entitled “A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger than Basketball”. The book will focus on Wade’s childhood in Chicago, but also talk about the challenges that he has faced as a divorced father of two sons.

You may remember that Wade had a very nasty custody battle with his ex wife last year, and was awarded custody of the couple’s two sons. Throughout all of the tribulations that he has face, Wade has remained a positive influence in the lives of his children. He told the Associated Press “I don’t have to share it with people, But I felt there was a need. So many people came up to me in this process, so many fathers, so many men came up to me to congratulate me and to ask me how, how I did it and why I believed I could do it.”

Wade has been honored by the National Fatherhood Initiative for his hard work and dedication in fatherhood, and he also hosted a round table discussion in Orlando earlier this year as a part of President Obama’s Fatherhood and Mentoring Initiative.

As a writer, Dwyane wants to use this book as an opportunity to give people more insight on him as a father.  “I think the biggest thing when I set out to write a book was just to share my experiences, from when I was a kid, my upbringing, my struggles, my joyous times, to becoming a father,” Wade said. “I’m trying to compare them, how they’ve been the same in a sense, even though my worlds are totally different. But we’re still dealing with the same things. From rags to riches, it really doesn’t matter.”
